What is Botox © ?

BOTOX ® Cosmetic is a highly safe & effective, non-surgical procedure. Botox© is injected into muscles to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines). Dr. Sharen Jeffries takes pride in helping her patients reverse the signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines.

Throughout the years, many patients from the Inland Empire and the surrounding areas have visited Dr. Jeffries for her gentle touch when it comes to injections.

Why  use  Botox ©?

Years of squinting, concentrating, or frowning can cause your skin to furrow and crease. As time passes, your skin becomes less elastic and those moderate to severe frown lines remain-even when your muscles aren’t concentrating. With a few tiny injections, Botox© Cosmetic blocks nerve impulses to the injected muscles, reducing their contractions. This reduced muscle activity helps lessen the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. Botox© can be used alone or in combinations with facial fillers, laser resurfacing to facial plastic surgery.

How  does  Botox © work?

With Botox© Cosmetic, you often won’t look like you’ve had work done. The muscle activity that cause moderate to severe frown lines is temporarily reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised, but without the moderate to severe wrinkles and creases. Botox© is a purified form of the botulinum toxin. It is injected by Dr. Jeffries in small amounts into the appropriate muscle, which causes the muscle to relax. People between the ages of 18 to 65 years of age can be treated with Botox©.

Botox © treats dynamic  facial  lines and  overactive muscles:

  • Glabellar lines: Deep furrows between the eyebrows. These are often referred to as the “angry 11′s”
  • Horizontal lines on the forehead
  • Crow’s feet
  • Platysma bands–the thick bands of muscle in front of the neck.
  • Dimpling of the chin from overactive muscles
  • Raise drooping of the corners of the mouth
  • Fine lines around the lips
  • Fine wrinkles under the eyes
  • Can also be used to raise your eyebrows to create a more pleasing shape and even mimic a browlift without surgery.

Dysport ©

Dysport© is a new treatment that is much like other cosmetic injections in that it can safely and effectively reduce frown lines and forehead wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles.

Now, with the introduction of Dysport©, our office serving those in the Inland Empire, has more that one option for quick and easy facial rejuvenation. As an experience provider of facial cosmetic treatments, Dr. Sharen Jeffries uses the very latest techniques.

Why  use  Dysport ©?

When we frown or smile, the tissue between our eyebrows gathers into a fold. In some of us, this causes chronic furrows and produces a frustrated, discouraged, angry facial appearance.Dysport is a simple, effective, non-surgical treatment that works by relaxing facial muscles, thereby reducing and smoothing away frown-lines and wrinkles. Dysport©, like other treatments, is a protein extracted from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Studies indicate that Dysport© possibly disperses more widely than Botox Cosmetic when injected, making this an advantage when treating broader areas of small wrinkles such as crows feet.

How  does  Dysport © work?

A tiny dose of Dysport© injected into the small facial muscles causes a temporary paralysis, allowing the muscles to relax and wrinkles to flatten out. Because the dose is so small and the injection so precise, only a small area is affected.

If you’re bothered by lines, wrinkles or furrows around your forehead and eyes, Dysport© may be a good treatment for you.

Dysport© may cause serious side effects that can be life threatening. Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of these problems after treatment with Dysport©:

Problems swallowing, speaking, or breathing. These problems can happen hours to weeks after an injection of Dysport usually because the muscles that you use to breathe and swallow can become weak after the injection. Death can happen as a complication if you have severe problems with swallowing or breathing after treatment with Dysport.

People with certain breathing problems may need to use muscles in their neck to help them breathe. These patients may be at greater risk for serious breathing problems with Dysport.

Swallowing problems may last for several weeks. People who can not swallow well may need a feeding tube to receive food and water. If swallowing problems are severe, food or liquids may go into your lungs. People who already have swallowing or breathing problems before receiving Dysport have the highest risk of getting these problems.

Spread of toxin effects. In some cases, the effect of botulinum toxin may affect areas of the body away from the injection site and cause symptoms of a serious condition called botulism. The symptoms of botulism include:
–loss of strength and muscle weakness all over the body

–double vision

–blurred vision and drooping eyelids

–hoarseness or change or loss of voice (dysphonia)

–trouble saying words clearly (dysarthria)

–loss of bladder control

–trouble breathing

–trouble swallowing
These symptoms can happen hours to weeks after you receive an injection of Dysport©.
These problems could make it unsafe for you to drive a car or do other dangerous activities. See “What should I avoid while receiving Dysport©?”
